Zakat / Sadaqa

Zakat

One of the most important pillars of Islam is Zakat (or Zakah).

Zakat is similar to a tax on wealth payable at the rate of 2.5% based on an individual's savings, investments, and inventory of certain assets such as gold.

The payment of Zakat is an act of worship and purifies one's earnings and soul. It allows wealth to be distributed to the poor and needy and gives us a sense of caring and sharing.

Zakat should be given to

  • The poor
  • The needy
  • The destitute
  • Those in bondage
  • In the cause of Allah SWT
  • Some other special worthy causes.

Zakat can be used to pay for a poor person to perform Hajj or Umrah.

The general view is that somebody who qualifies for Zakat can use the money how so ever they wish to, which includes spending it to go for Hajj. Although Hajj is not obligatory for a person who does not have the financial means of doing so, many poor people around the world still have a desire to make pilgrimage to the house of Allah. Al Hajjaj supports and represents such people in trying to raise the funds to pay for their pilgrimage.

We act as a custodian and agent for the poor person we are representing to collect funds on their behalf and use them to pay for their Hajj and Umrah.

Please pay your Zakat money to Al Hajjaj today to pay for a poor person's Hajj or Umrah.

Sadaqa

Sadaqa is the giving of charity voluntarily. It is recommended to give Sadaqa (Sadaka) in addition to giving Zakat.

There are various hadiths that support the giving of sadaqa "

The Prophet Muhammad (SWT) said:

"SADAQAH EXTINGUISHES SIN AS WATER EXTINGUISHES FIRE."

Ahmad, Ibn Majah & Tirmidhi

"GIVE CHARITY WITHOUT DELAY, FOR IT STANDS IN THE WAY OF CALAMITY."

Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 589

Al Hajjaj invites you to make Sadaqa contributions towards sending poor people for free Hajj or free Umrah .
